Sound Design 5, An Audiophile Jazz CD with Buddy Tate and Friends
Using STS Digital's MW coding process for superb sound quality from analogue remastered
tapes, this is another fine Jazz recording session in the Sound Design series. Fronted by
Buddy Tate tenor sax, Milt Buckner organ and Wallace Bishop drums - sit back let the
music flow and enjoy.
Brief: Musician career notes:-
Born USA Texas 1913 he joined Count Basie in 1939 where he remained for 9 years until 1948
playing principal instruments Saxophone and Clarinet. Working with other bands until 1953 he formed his own Big Band
in Harlem where he worked at the Celebrity Club from 1953 to 1974.
Born St Louis USA 1915. His expertise as a musician lay in Jazz Pianist, Organist and composer.
He joined Lionel Hamptons BIG Band in 1941 where for 7 years he remained as Pianist. After leading his own Big Band
for 2 years he returned to Lionel Hamptons Big Band. Subsequently forming his own trio in 1953 he was instrumental in
pioneering works featuring the Hammond Organ.
1977 saw his last studio recordings in Paris. He later died in Chicago aged 62.
Born Chicago USA in 1906. He later became an American Swing Jazz Drummer. After touring in Europe he remained behind playing with numerous European Jazz Musicians and American expatriates. He recorded through to the 1970's after which he died aged 80 in Holland.
